With hot weather comes water, and therefore an increased risk of drowning.
It is terrifying to think that a child can drown in a few centimetres of water...
but with careful monitoring they can still have fun and be safe.
Here are some tips on how to minimise the risk
- When bathing your baby or toddler never leave them along for any reason, even
if an older brother or sister is being bathed at the same time.
- bath water must be shallow in depth
- all children should be supervised while swimming, never let your child swim
along. Stay with your child if they are playing near or in a paddling pool
- don't let your child stray alone near outdoor water, such as ponds, canals,
lakes or rivers and cover or fence in garden ponds.
