Making the most of your Summer
|
Its easy to let the summer wiz by and then the days draw shorter and we are getting ready for Christmas. I love grabbing those precious 15 minute breaks sitting having a cuppa in sun, reading a magazine or doing that thing I have been meaning to do for ages whilst the kids play around in the garden. Its moments like those that make summer so lovely. Do it outside! Get outside whenever you can, open the post outside in the morning, eat outside, meet up with friends etc, whatever, I just make sure its outside. We can spend so many hours cooped up in winter that its a great feeling to be out and free. I have even been known to do the ironing outside! What does make a real difference is the longer days both in terms of more daylight to do things and less night to sleep! It does mean that the family can do things on the weekend evenings that we simply cannot do in the winter so an evening walk in the park or a late supper on the lawn mean the day is so much fuller. I do find that my kids enjoy the afternoons so much better if they have had a siesta sleep in the afternoon, which means they can stay up a bit later as a treat to make the most of the day light. The main thing is to celebrate summer, make the most of it, it will be winter before we know it! |
