About EMLA Cream
For injections without tears ask your pharmacist about EMLA Cream
Infants and children need a series of immunisations to protect them against serious infectious diseases. But this means having injections, which can be painful. The good news is that for children aged one or more, you can use EMLA anaesthetic cream to numb their skin before an injection. EMLA cream is available from your pharmacist without a prescription.Simply apply EMLA Cream to your child's skin at the site of injection about an hour before the immunisation is due and cover with a dressing recommended by the pharmacist. EMLA Cream takes effect within one hour and pain relief lasts up to 5 hours. EMLA cream costs only £1.73 for a 5g tube - that's less than 70p per application.
