Sofa and Bed Sleeping
A coroner has warned that more than 300 babies may be dying each year in England and Wales after sharing a bed or sofa with their parents. Midwives currently tell mothers of both the advantages and risk of bed-sharing. But in reality surely you should be encouraged to do what is right for you and your baby. If you are breastfeeding you may find it easier to let your baby feed and fall asleep with you, I personally slept with James and breastfeed. Many different cultures and many women who will continue to sleep with their babies, perhaps the best approach would be to give parents accurate advice, rather than saying, don't do it. Read about Co-Sleeping But let us know what you think and we will publish your responses on this page. I have a 14 months old baby and she is sleeping with me on my bed since she was 9 months old. I have been breast feeding my baby and sharing a bed with her made breast feeding easier and therefore I was able to continue it for longer duration. In my point of view sharing sofa could be dangerous as there is usually not enough room for baby and mom both however sharing double bed gives yourself and baby enough space and it is ideal that one side of the bed should be guarded by a wall or something. I am happy to recommend sharing bed with baby to any careful, vigilent a mom who wants to continue breastfeeding can with ease. |
