Milk Allergies

Milk Allergy

Would you know if something was wrong with your baby, in particular, MILK!

Mothers are being encouraged to breastfeed, and it does not occur to us that the milk whether breast or formula could be making our babies unwell.

This article was of great interest, in particular watching this feature on the news, and the advice was that a baby may instinctively know that milk could be bad for them by turning away from the breast or bottle.

Don't delay, push for advice and support from your GP and health visitors. It can be hard to diagnose but follow your instincts, they are usually right.

Cow's milk allergy in babies is being missed by doctors, a survey suggests.

Nearly 80% of 500 doctors polled by the medical taskforce Act Against Allergy thought their colleagues confused milk allergy symptoms with other conditions.

My daughter suffered with milk allergy for weeks, sick and terrible nappy and skin rashes. I was sure it was milk related but was told no. Finally I put her on soya formula.....what a transformation.

My son came along and he had the same problems, A switch to soya solved them. I had an aunt who insisted on giving him whole milk and cream. I always knew she had given him some as his eyes watered, nose running and very chesty coughing and tired.

Children Nos. 3 and 4 came along and I decided to put them straight onto soya.

I worried about their development, but it does not appear to have caused any problems. They now drink semi skimmed milk sparingly.
