NSPCC are Brewing
‘Stop for tea’ and help change children’s livesEvery week at least one child dies as a result of abuse or neglect with a further 30,000 children on the child protection register. As a result the NSPCC are calling on over one million people in the UK to stop child cruelty in its biggest call to action - Be the FULL STOP. Ahead of Full Stop Week (2-8th October) the NSPCC are calling on you to ‘stop for tea’, a fundraising tea break, aimed at raising funds to end child cruelty. More than 165 million cups of tea are enjoyed in the UK every single day and the NSPCC are asking for help to ensure as many cups as possible are poured as part of their campaign. All you need to take part is to put the kettle on and hold a tea party. It could be a traditional afternoon tea with colleagues, a children’s tea party, a G&T or even ‘teeing off’ at the local golf course. By turning your morning tea-break into a ticket-only tea party or by asking your boss to deliver tea to your desk and collecting the tips, you could be doing your bit and contributing valuable funds to the campaign. Every pound raised will make a real difference to help end cruelty to children.
This year’s campaign will also see the first ever UK-wide map of actions to end child cruelty. It will showcase a growing force of fundraisers, donors, campaigners, volunteers and others who have taken action to help a child - it will be a visual image of mass action and progress. Join in and get on the map during your tea break. Sixteen percent of children suffer maltreatment across the UK. The NSPCC is the UK's leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children and has been directly involved in protecting children since 1884.
