Parenting classes for kids
Yes! Parenting classes for kidsWhen I read this article at first I looked at the date to make sure it was not 1st April! Not only are our children already stressed out by school, SAT's, bullying and more, they are now suggesting teaching 10 year olds how to be parents. Our children are already being robbed of their childhood, and my son at 8 years old already thinks he knows better than me. Do I really want him coming home from school and saying "mum your a bad parent, you should be doing....." - NO I don't, being a parent is already a stressful occupation without giving more ammunition to the children to use against us - we have enough people judging parents as it is! Debbie - Your Editor Written by Alice Miles, this story was quite amusing, but with a serious note - here is an extract. It makes perfect sense in today's world to teach young children to be good mummies and daddies Every now and then you hear an idea that makes you sit up straight and think, that's it! It's so bleeding obvious - why didn't I think of it? It happened to me yesterday morning at 7.32am. And this was the idea: that schoolchildren as young as ten be given compulsory parenting lessons. It was the Conservative Parliamentary candidate Shaun Bailey, a youth worker on the rough inner-city council estates of West London, speaking on the Today programme. John Humphrys's voice was full of moral bristle: “Teach a ten-year-old girl how to bring up kids?” he asked. Love that assumption that it's just for the girls, John. Absolutely, replied Mr Bailey - being a parent is a privilege and not just a right; we should point out that it's going to be hard work. “We need to instruct our children in the realities of families. Lots of people have children believing it's going to be like a Barbie doll.” To read in full visit Times Online |
