Hi Andy,

I can't talk from experience, it must be tough for you both with you being away when your daughter is so young. she has probably come to rely on your partner completely for all her needs so it will take time for her to get used to having you home again.. Not sure if this helps but,
I find that my daughter (9 momths) is more interested in getting to know people when they ignore her, if friends come into the house say hello but are not too fussed about talking to her - she is more likely to watch them and try to get their attention to play, whereas when her grandparents (who try too hard) are all over her she tends to reject them and come to me for 'help'. Although she does get along better with them if I am not in sight, so maybe some alone time for the two of you will work.
Good luck

Wow Dad!

"If I am guilty of anything as a father, it is not finding enough time to be with my children.

Wow Dad! Sets out to resolve this by helping to rekindle the innocent enjoyment that children and fathers can enjoy together, using simple everyday objects and environments. For instance before your next family meal read the section on spoon balancing on your nose or how to play musical glasses.

The fun returns to fatherhood and your children will have some great memories. Many of the fun activities are free, such as tongue twisters and star gazing. The book even has some background general information to help you impress the children when you start baffling them! Well us dad's have to sound like experts!

A super book that helps brighten up everyday mundane tasks like the washing up. I am quite old fashioned when it comes to reading and would have preferred a virtual copy of the book, as it would be easier and quicker to dip into each activity. That said the PDF file had quick clickable links to each section and page and could easily be read during a quiet spell at work or between playing games on the computer!"
