Anita and Katie

Well I'm at week 27 already and I just can't believe how fast the time is going, we decided to go to Butlins for the week so that Katie would have a holiday. We usually go abroad, but because I didn't want to risk flying. I know they say that you can safely fly up till you are 28 weeks, but I really didn't want to risk it, especially with having twins.

We usually go to Butlins in November for 4 days to watch the fireworks and the Halloween shows, but I am due on the 22 November and I thought that it would be too close to the birth, so we moved it forward.

The journey took us around two hours with only a very quick toilet stop for Katie, which wasn't too bad. I wasn't looking forward to the journey because I seem to be finding driving a bit of a struggle. I took my pillows with us so I would be more comfortable in bed. When we got there, the electric was out, but it wasn't really a problem as we checked in around 4pm. We unpacked and decided to go out and have a look round, Katie was in her element and we couldn't believe just how busy it was. We were both expecting it to be busy, but it was a nightmare finding seats and I was so shocked at how very few people actually gave up their seats (or even their childrens seats) for a pregnant woman. I had a number of comments from people asking how much longer I had to go and when I said 13 weeks, they seemed shocked and felt I only had a couple of weeks left, but they still didn't give up their seats!!

I ended up watching a few shows sitting on the floor, or even the steps, which was pretty uncomfortable. Paul ended up looking round for chairs so I could sit down, he seemed pretty worried that I was uncomfortable and didn't want it to cause me any problems.

I'd done quite a bit of walking and didn't want Katie to miss out on shows and rides, so it meant I had to walk to lots of places and stand for long periods of time, I didn't mind I just wanted Katie to enjoy it. My bump has been feeling really heavy this week and lots of people commented on how low I was, which is why its been feeling so heavy.

We went swimming whilst we were there, and I was hoping that this was going to help with the heaviness, it wasn't too bad, but because it was so busy, I ended up being kicked a couple of times.

The weather was ok, somedays being quite sunny. We managed to spend a day on the beach and Katie enjoyed playing in the sea and on the sand. I couldn't run round after her, like I normally do on the beach, but Paul played with her and she was happy.

Katie really enjoyed her time at Butlins and wanted to stay there for a few more nights. She was really tired and we were having to wake her up in the mornings for breakfast. The food was great value and a good variety, I didn't eat too much in the evening as I just haven't got the room, so I am eating little and often, the only bad thing is, its not always good things that I am eating.

The journey home was a nightmare, we got stuck in a lot of traffic and took us over 3 hours to get home. I found this really hard, I couldn't get comfortable and I was really tired too. We unpacked and did all of the washing. Paul wanted to wait till Saturday to do all of the washing, but I just wanted to get it out of the way so I could relax over the weekend.

Paul went out for a drink with the lads on Friday evening and I was happy to have the house to myself. I put Katie to bed and she started crying saying she was missing her daddy and making excuses for me to go upstairs. I was really tired and I did lose my temper with her and ended up shouting at her, which then made her worse. I went back down stairs and tried to ignore it, but she didn't give in. I couldn't beleive that she had done this again, and couldn't understand why she had started doing this. She is normally really good at bedtime, and I just wanted to sit down and relax. I ended up spending half the night sorting it out. Eventually, I sat down down with her and talked to her about it and apologised for shoutting at her and explained why. Eventually, she calmed down and eventually went to sleep, I was feeling really tense and couldn't relax. I ended up having a really bad night with hardly any sleep as I was feeling so guilty for losing my temper with her. I know she'll forget it, but I couldn't. I don't like to lose my temper with her, I like to sit and explain things to her in a calm manner so she understands why people get upset. I know my hormones are all over the place and this doesn't help.

I finally got to sleep Friday night but as I said I didn't sleep well. Lets hope next week we get off to a better start with all of our sleeping.

Take care

Anita

Children on the internet worries - advice needed!
Hi

I know exactly how you feel, I have a 10 year old son and was so worried about him using the internet. I saw this software in the paper called Sentry Parental Controls - I did a free trial from their website - then bought it. It does everything you need - blocks sites, monitors internet use etc. You can even have texts sent to you when the kids try and look at inappropriate websites! It really has put my mind at rest.
