Anita and Katie

Hooray we have finally fnished the nursery and I love it. We got the last few bits for the room so for the last two weeks we have been working on this nearly every night. I've attached some pictures for you to look at.

Work is still really stressful and I haven't really slowed down, although I am getting out of breath very quickly now. Just walking up the stairs at home tires me out. I'm out and about on site and it takes me ages to walk round some of the schemes now. I've been working late again this week most nights, as well as helping Paul with the nursery.

I haven't felt too good this week, one lunch time I had cheese and chips which really didn't agree with me later that night. I was really sick and shaky, my friend had read that sickness and diaorrea could be the start of labour, luckily the sickness passed pretty quick. It did make me worry about my little ones, I was concerned I had eaten something that could have harmed them, so I sat talking to them half the night and trying to get them to move about so I knew they were okay. They have been moving plenty still so I pretty sure they are ok.

Katie didn't go for tea at her friends house this week, much to her disappointment because he was ill all week, so she will probably go next week. Katie also had her eye appointment (re-check) and her eyesight has improved and she now has 20-20 vision, so we were really happy about that. I can't believe that in the space of a couple of weeks she has really come along with her letters. Paul and I were trying to teach her and found it quite hard, now we seem to be walking around places and Katie is saying the letters, she's even saying things and telling us what they begin with. She's taken to it like a duck to water - we must have been doing something wrong.

Paul has been listening to the babies heartbeats, he says he can hear them sometimes, but every time he puts his head on my stomach, the babies kick him which is really funny.

Everyone keeps saying how low I am and I keep being asked by people in the street how long I have to go, I love to see their faces when I say 9 more weeks and then tell them I'm having twins. Everyone keeps saying how difficult things are going to be and I must be mad, I have a pretty good idea of how hard things are going to be and Paul and I have both said we still really cannot believe we are having twins until they are here. I can't wait to be holding both of them. I've started to do my birth plan, and a list for my hospital bag and a list for Paul of all the people he needs to ring / text when they arrive.

For the birth plan, we would like a natural birth, I don't mind gas and air and pethidine but I don't want an epidural or c section unless its medically required. I would really love a water birth so I am going to ask the consultant about this when I go in a couple of weeks. I would like the babies to be delivered onto my stomach and Paul would really like to cut the cords. I did put this on my last birth plan but the midwifes didn't seem to take notice of it and didn't even ask Paul if he wanted to cut the cord, this time I am going to mention it at the very beginning.

I am going to get our hospital bag ready next week, I've made a list of items for mum, babies and dad. Some things will have to wait till the morning of the birth such as sandwiches / drinks etc, but I want to get most of it ready now, you just never know.

We've still got a few things to get such as the pushchair, electric breast pump, nursing chair, so as soon as I get these I will be happier. I have a manual breast pump but I really don't think this will be any use. I would really like the Avent double electric breast pump, but at £200 I think it's a little expensive, especially with all the other expense we have at the minute. So it looks like I will just have to make do with a single electric breast pump. I've been trying to buy one off ebay, but keep getting outbid at the last minute which is really frustrating.

Take care

Anita

Sleepless nights
HELP!!!

Our 14 month old son has, for the last 3 weeks, woke during the night crying. Since then we are only getting about 2 hours sleep a night and we are absolutely exhausted.(his cot is our room and previous to this he was a great sleeper.) The only thing that settles him is letting him sleep with us . I know this can be dangerous and we dont actually get any sleep as we are so scared that we will suffocate him. On a health vistors advice, we tried controlled crying which was very difficult and upsetting for us all. Even after 3-4 hours of crying he still wouldnt settle and it would wake our other 2 older children. Having spoken to a different H.V since, they have suggested that we wont solve the matter unless our son is sleeping in another room away from us. we only have a 3 bedroom house so he will have to share a room with his 12 year old brother. Does anyone have any views if this may work?
