Well I went to see the pregnancy day care centre and had my blood tests done the same morning I saw my consultant. Some of the information hadn't come back and they were going to let me know that day if there were any problems. They want me to go back on the Wednesday and have the blood tests done again to see if there were any changes. The consultant I saw wasn't mine but he was really good, he told me that one of the babies was still head down, but one was lying transverse (across my stomach), I asked about the possibility of having them both naturally and whether I could get away without having an epidural. He said there was a good possibility that the first twin could be delivered naturally and that they could try to manually turn the second twin but could not guarantee whether it could be delivered naturally and that I would have to have an epidural incase I needed to have a c section (not what I wanted to hear, even though I knew that this would happen). He also said that they wouldn't let me go past the 38 week mark, so I was expecting him to give me a date to come in for next week, instead he suggested that I go in this week. Paul and I looked at one another, we couldn't believe it, this week. He suggested Wednesday 02 November, but luckily the nurse suggested Friday 05 November. He asked if we had any other questions but Paul and I were so flabbergasted at the date that we couldn't think of anything. He gave us some information to read through about being induced and discussed what would happen. He then told us that if I had any contractions or if my waters broke before I was to go into hospital immediately. Paul and I came out of the room and we couldn't believe that the babies would arrive this week, our twins would be with us by Friday, we were excited and scared at the same time. We didn't know what to expect, sure we were okay looking after another baby that wasn't an issue, but two!! now it all seemed too real. We decided to text our friends and our families and rang our mums, they were so excited, well except Paul's mum, she was gutted. She was going away for the weekend on Friday and she was not going to see them until she returned on the Monday so she was itching for us to have them earlier, she even suggested ringing the hosptial and asking them to change the induction to Wednesday. Paul went back to work to break the news to his work, I was on the phone for ages as people were ringing me. I had drafted a text which I saved on my phone to tell people I was going in, I deleted this now because I had let them know about being induced. That afternoon, I picked Katie up from school and Paul and I told her about mummy going into hospital on Friday and that the babies would be here real soon. She was really excited, but I don't think she really took a lot in. I had to ring about the carpet too, which conveniently wasn't in so they had let us down yet again, I didn't have the energy to argue with them and they promised that it would be laid by Thursday at the very latest. I told them that it had to be done by then as I was going to be induced on Friday so there was no further room for error. I couldn't sleep that night, I know Paul didn't get much sleep either, we sat in bed talking about it and how real it had suddenly become. Paul still couldn't get his head round having twins until they arrived. The next morning I felt fine and popped to see my friends, they couldn't believe how big I was. I kept getting a couple of twinges whilst I was there and I was still leaking so I was going to the loo pretty often. I got back home around lunchtime and decided to clean my bathroom, which was about the only room left to clean. I decided to polish the laminate flooring by hand, so I got down on my hands and knees and polished it. I started to feel stronger twinges now, but I still wasn't sure whether this was labour pains as they were a little hit and miss. By about 5 o'clock the pains were still there, Paul picked me up and we went to his mums for tea. I told him about the pains and he asked me if they were labour pains, they were but I hadn't timed them. I started to time them at his mums, they were coming every 10 minutes and then started every 5 minutes. I couldn't eat my tea, Paul and his mum were worried and I decided that it was time to go to the hospital. Katie started to cry when we left, she was worried about me as she hadn't seen me in any pain before. Pauls mum kept Katie overnight whilst we went into the hosptial. It was 7:30 when we got there and there was only one room available and it wasn't ready, so we had to wait for them to clear and clean the room. The staff were really apologetic, we were fine and I wanted to stay on my feet as long as I could. Paul and I joked about them being born on Halloween, I said I would cross my legs so they wouldn't come until 01 November at least. See you at the birth!
